Prompted by a friend who asked about the feeling of losing consciousness through anesthesia, this unbound artist book is an attempt at remembering the physical and emotional feeling of being put under. Every few months from the age of two, I was put under to check up on the status of the cancer that had been removed from my body. As I aged, more time passed between appointments, but the process was always the same. Though it can be externally controlled by an Anesthesiologist, the state of unconsciousness through anesthesia is still an enigma.

Anesthesia, handmade cotton paper with cedar, thyme and garden rose petal inclusions, letterpress, 6″ × 4.5″, 2017. (Pictured is edition no. 2/8.)
