SNAP is a Non-profit Artist-Run Centre in Edmonton, Alberta dedicated to the production, presentation and dissemination of Fine Art Printmaking and Contemporary Print Media. For more information about SNAP, visit the About section.

The SNAP Visiting Artist in Residence is selected annually by jury.

Visiting Artist Residency Program Includes:

  • 24/7 access to the Printshop for a 4-6 week consecutive period
  • A $1000.00 CAD artist fee (paid upon completion of the residency)
  • A $600.00 CAD materials stipend (materials purchased must be used during residency and will be administered by SNAP staff)
  • A maximum contribution of $1500.00 CAD toward travel and accommodation
  • Delivery by the artist of a public demonstration, lecture or workshop
  • The opportunity for broad public engagement with the artist’s project and studio work

Submission Requirements:

  • Artist’s curriculum vitae
  • 10-20 jpegs with corresponding image list
  • A written project proposal of work to be completed during residency
  • A workshop or demonstration proposal. (Workshop proposals are important, but should not be too elaborate or take more than four evenings or two full days at a maximum.)

Visiting Artists are expected to engage regularly with our community of studio renters, artists and SNAP patrons through attendance at Open Studio drop-in sessions (5 hours every 2 weeks), informal critiques with emerging artists and others, attendance at exhibition openings and other events happening throughout the artist’s stay. Furthermore, Visiting Artists will be expected to become members of the Society of Northern Alberta Print-Artists covering the duration of their residency term and sign the standard SNAP Printshop rental agreement outlining terms of use and liability. One print or artist proof from each edition printed during the residency must be provided to SNAP for retention in the print archive. One (or more) print(s) will be donated to SNAP to be sold for fundraising purposes.

Submissions are currently closed. Please check out our other residency opportunities such as Northern Alberta Artist in Residence (2022) and Emerging Artist in Residence
