2021 SNAP Member’s Exchange

Submissions Closed

SNAP invites all members to participate in the 2021 SNAP Member’s Print Exchange.

The annual SNAP Member’s Print Exchange is an opportunity for print artists to create a new edition of prints, exchange work with other SNAP members, and celebrate our unique community of artists.

This year’s 2021 print exchange will have a smaller edition size of six (6) prints with a paper size of 8” x 10” and a theme to unite the exchange and resulting editions of prints. The smaller edition requirement for the exchange will support those continuing to print from home – but artists may print larger editions for further sharing, trading, or selling of their works.

The 2021 Member’s Print Exchange theme is Present Impressions. With this theme in mind we ask artists to consider what it means to make a print today and to be present in the here & now.

Present Impressions allows us to reflect, remember, and look back on, but it also has the ability for us to demonstrate our anticipation, waiting, and the act of looking forward. This theme should be interpreted broadly to encompass anything the artist feels relates and or responds to the present moment, their own experience of time over the past year, or the act of putting ink to paper at home and without our usual community of artists immediately nearby. While we are apart we are still together, we can connect with one another through print and the act of making multiples for exchange.

By creating and submitting an edition of six prints you will receive five prints (selected randomly by draw) from other SNAP artists also participating in the exchange. One of each member’s prints will be added to SNAP’s Print Archive. SNAP Staff will distribute the completed showcase of work to all participants as a compiled document, and will also have the work available for view on SNAP’s website and featured in social media for online viewing. SNAP Staff will look for possible exhibition opportunities throughout the year and will update participants of these details.

Timeline

It is preferred that you send an expression of interest before beginning your edition to [email protected] so SNAP Staff can plan and to disseminate information to all participants.

Deadline for SNAP to receive printed editions is Tuesday, April 27, 2021 by 6 pm*

*By scheduling for this deadline our hope is to give participants ample time to create their prints with minimal stress. Artists participating from outside Edmonton should keep postage timelines in mind. SNAP will cover the cost of return postage for participating artists out of the Edmonton area.

SNAP Staff will collate and have the prints ready for pick up/mailing mid May.
