Referencing historical events, significant sites, and objects, the images and materials in Pinheiro’s work become vessels that record her interactions; gestures that oscillate between creative and destructive processes of transformation. Andrea Pinheiro has exhibited across Canada and internationally, at Polygon Gallery, the Art Gallery of Ontario, the Art Gallery of Vancouver, the Art Gallery of Alberta, the Novosibirsk Graphic Triennial, Kyoto Museum of Art, and Or Gallery, Berlin among others. She has completed residencies at the Banff Centre for the Arts, Montello Foundation, Nevada, and SIM Residency in Reykjavik, Iceland. Her work is represented by Cooper Cole Gallery in Toronto and Republic Gallery in Vancouver. She is an Associate Professor at Algoma University and the founder of 180 Projects, an experimental exhibition space, in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario.
