As we approach our 2022 Annual General Meeting in July, SNAP is seeking up to 5 new members to join our Board of Directors. This is a very exciting time for SNAP as we embark on the road to our 40th anniversary. Successful candidates will get involved in key initiatives that are centered in inclusivity and community-building as we pursue our strategic five-year plan.

The Board is responsible for SNAP’s governance and strategic planning, with Directors championing our goals of artistic development, inclusion, and community-building in our policies and procedures. Directors are elected by our membership for a minimum two-year term, which can be renewed. The role typically requires 5-10 volunteer hours per month, including attendance at monthly meetings and potential involvement with specific committees. Applicants with no prior board experience are very welcome.

As an artist-run centre, diversity, equity, and inclusion have been core values spoken about at SNAP. Our dedication to learning and upholding these values remains steadfast and we are committed to cultivating an organization and board that meaningfully reflects the diversity and agency of Edmonton’s arts community, this includes the representation of Indigenous, Black, and People of Colour, 2SLGBTQIA+, disabled, low-income and working-class community members in our leadership and programming.

We remain committed to the ongoing organizational transformation of SNAP, including programming that supports and amplifies underrepresented groups, a strategic five-year plan grounded in inclusivity and community-building, and dedicated space for inclusive representation on SNAP’s Board of Directors and staff. Interested individuals should have an openness to thought, curiosity and tenacity to re-envision systems of accountability, accessibility, and equity.

We encourage all inquiries for this position. If you have a passion for printmaking and are interested in joining our board or know someone who would be a good candidate, we would love to connect with you! Applicants are welcome to express their interest in the media that best represents themselves.

Interest can be sent to our Board of Directors’ Hiring Committee at [email protected], and please add “Attn: Board Recruitment” to the email subject line. Alternatively, you may call our current Board Vice President, Chelsey Campbell (they/she) at (780) 710-5953. We recognize community members may face barriers when applying and if you require accommodations, please contact us.

We can’t wait to connect with you!
