Artists will work with traditional tools and materials to explore more nuanced approaches to printing, such as creating gradients, transferring woodgrain texture, and using mica powder, while also experimenting with different washi papers. Advanced topics such as tool preparation and maintenance (e.g., knife sharpening) will be covered. Designed for those with prior experience, the workshop offers a supportive space to deepen fluency and confidence in this versatile medium.

Join artist Emily Hayes for a weekend of experimental printing fun! Anthotypes are a fun, safe, and camera-free way to work with plant materials to make photos! Using a variety of plant matter, or plant derived materials, anthotypes allow makers to take photographic impressions of objects and positives to make ephemeral artwork. Anthotype works similarly to cyanotype, but allows for a broader spectrum of colour, as emulsions can be made from any number of plants, vegetables, flowers, or their derivatives. This class is great for folks interested in photographic process, experimentation, or plant matter!
