Artist Statement:

Interactions with technology have lost tactility, reducing our awareness of the hardware behind digital spaces. Through personifying this hardware into a living organism, this exhibition invites viewers to be curious about the components that bring our virtual spaces to life and how they have become enmeshed with our environments.

Bio:

Drawn to mundane and discarded technologies, abandoned objects and structures, and science fiction narratives, Gracie explores the overlap between technology, the environment, and our perception of permeance/impermanence. Combining printmaking, fibre arts, and intermedia video and sound she highlights hidden details and tactile moments. Using slow methods of creation such as printmaking and stop motion she aims to encourage curiosity about objects/technologies we interact with everyday. Gracie has a BFA from the University of Alberta (2024).
