SNAP is pleased to present fields, featuring new work by Friday Smith. The exhibition runs from August 29 – September 26, 2026, at SNAP Gallery.

Artist Statement:

fields is a web of grief, divination & dying. Made up of screen printed quilts, the show uses repeating patterns to illustrate a dense unending network of life & decay that we are all entangled in. Through these soft and porous windows, the viewer is invited to interrogate the boundaries between the living and the dead.

Bio:

friday smith (he/him) is a settler living and working on Treaty 6 territory in amiskwaciwâskahikan. Part diary part fantasy, his practice spans textiles, printmaking & ceramics. friday is interested in the play between abstraction and legibility - and what can be learned from the inbetween. He works from a home studio with his two cats, Truck and Alfie.
