Call for Applications:<\/strong><\/p> Hourly Rate:$19\/hr with 30 hrs per week. <\/span><\/strong><\/p> Contract:<\/strong> 10 consecutive weeks of employment or 300 hours total per position<\/span><\/p> Schedule:<\/strong>\u00a0 In person Tuesday-Saturday, some evening & weekend availability required<\/p> Location:\u00a0<\/strong> SNAP Gallery & Printshop – 10572 115th ST NW, Edmonton, AB<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t As a community focused arts organization, SNAP is committed to connecting with new and diverse audiences. The Community Arts Coordinators will plan and execute collaborative printmaking events and projects on site and out in the community \u2013 advocating for the organization and fostering strong relationships.<\/span><\/b><\/b><\/p> Specific duties and responsibilities will include:<\/strong><\/p> In addition to community outreach initiatives, the Community Arts Coordinator will support fundraising efforts and art sales. This may involve the creation of promotional materials, artwork, and art merchandise. The youth can also expect to gain insights into the day-to-day operations of a non-profit arts organization and will be encouraged to develop new initiatives and programs that serve artists, members and the larger community SNAP operates in.<\/span><\/p> As a leading center for printmaking and an integral part of the local Edmonton arts scene, SNAP\u2019s public gallery exhibits a diverse range of community group shows, emerging artists, and local\/national\/international professional artists. SNAP presents up to 12 exhibitions a year between our 2 public galleries. SNAP exhibits traditional printmaking practices as well as works that challenge the audience’s expectations of the art form. Additionally, <\/span>SNAP has been collecting, preserving, and archiving a permanent collection of fine art prints and works on paper over the past 42 years.\u00a0<\/span><\/p> The Gallery and Archives Assistant will work closely with SNAP\u2019s staff to support the operations of the gallery and collections management. This position will involve directly working with Artists and handling Artwork. The Assistant will also be responsible for engaging with the general public and educating patrons about current exhibitions and our Archive collection.<\/span><\/p> Specific duties will include:<\/span><\/p> In addition, the youth can expect to gain insights into the day-to-day operations of a non-profit arts organization and lend support with other areas including the printshop, art sales, community outreach, and general maintenance duties. As a part of our team, they may work to develop new initiatives and programs that serve artists, members and the larger community SNAP operates in.<\/span><\/p> These positions have been created through funding from the Canada Summer Jobs initiative as supported by The Government of Canada. Candidates must be 30 years of age or under to qualify for employment under this program. Candidates must be a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act*; and legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial \/ territorial legislation and regulations. *International students are not eligible.
