a partly painted and collaged image of a white painted peanut shaped figure with Mickey Mouse ears, a black button nose and a cut out of a pair of red lips, with a message in a speech bubble that reads "Stay the course, grind one out and spread hysteria", assembled in newspaper cuttings.

a red figure shaped like a stack of pancakes or a bendy hat, covered in fabric texture, with a black door drawn in the bottom. There is a wall of white typewriter text filling the black background, that reads "Weddings, Christmas parties, Corporate parties, business mixers, birthdays, conventions, business meetings, anniversaries, concerts, events, catering available."

A magazine page that has been partially painted over in white paint. The headline visible over the paint says 'Do you need extra money?' and below that is stamped the words "Just go take it, looting and robbery are the natural response to a society of abundance"

ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Condition recently downgraded. Damage to the spine is apparent – stress and full spine break with tears through multiple pages. Visible attempts to repair this damage are noted. Additional damage to the cover – creasing, fading and chew marks (rodents?). Missing pages severely impact a comic’s value, we therefore note the absence of numerous pages. Previous grading of this comic may have been as high as “Very Good/Fine” (5.0/10). However, recent developments oblige us to a lower evaluation of “Fair/Good” (1.5/10) or “Fair” (1.0/10), appropriate for comics that may be worn and in general disarray but still somewhat intact and readable.

ARTIST BIO

Blair Brennan practices his own brand of quasi-mystical anarchism from his home in Treaty 6 territory, sacred land to many people. Brennan’s artwork has been exhibited nationally and internationally. He has written for a number of arts and cultural publications, in print and online. Recent illness, injury, related spinal cord surgeries, and resultant physical deficiencies compel Brennan to revisit accepted ideas on the mind-body relationship and to consider his practice from a disabled or differently-abled perspective. Brennan’s artwork documents his magickal progress in the world. Despite challenges, Brennan anticipates the continuation of this process.
