SNAP Artist Tees – Mairead Charles

MaxElwood Headshot

Mairead Charles (any pronouns) is a queer and disabled artist, caregiver, facilitator, and community worker who lives just north of Amiskwaciwâskahikan (Edmonton, AB). Their practice is informed by their own lived experiences, specifically working with themes such as perception & visibility, interdependence, and fostering communities of care. They enjoy working in a variety of mediums but have a distinct love for textiles, installation, and printmaking.

They received a diploma in Fine Art from MacEwan University in 2021, and have been fortunate to have their practice grow under the mentorship of artists like Michelle Lavoie and Aislinn Thomas. They currently work as the Accessibility & Outreach Coordinator for Latitude 53 and co-facilitate the Pivot program through Edmonton Men’s Health Collective.
