Join artist Joanne Madeley for an artist talk about her recent screenprinting project. A SNAP member since 2013, the artist took a hiatus from screenprinting for a few years due to a medical condition that affects her hands. Due to the generous support of the Edmonton Arts Council, she was able to work with fellow printmaker Emily Hayes to act as her hands and create a series of 10 new screenprints. This event will feature an artist talk, a screenprinting demo by Myken McDowell, and a SNAP studio tour.

Joanne Madeley is a printmaker whose favourite method to make artwork is screenprinting. She also makes linocuts, the occasional etching, and Japanese mokuhanga woodcut printing. She holds a BFA in Printmedia from Concordia University in Montreal and studied traditional mokuhanga printmaking in Japan at Mi-Lab Studio and is thankful for the support of the Edmonton Arts Council and the Alberta Foundation for the Arts for their support of the project. She has exhibited across North America, in Slovenia and Japan. Part of her ongoing artistic development is participating in artist residencies and she been an artist in residence at Atelier Circulaire in Montreal, Ayatana in Ottawa, Kala in California, and D’Clinc in Slovenia.
