In 1953, Belgian artist Rene Magritte painted versions of an image titled, “Golconda” (translates as “Mine of Wealth”), that depicted male figures (presumably modeled on his own typical alter-ego self) floating in space on three planes of foreground, mid-ground and background.

In 2010, our contemporary relationship to managing money balances on economic shifts, stock market trends, unemployment, spousal support, child care and job security. All of which are more a “Mine Field” than a “Mine of Wealth”. The topic of money might break down into several camps that have feelings to desire, fear, opulence, poverty, spending and saving practices that might differ between men and women…
