SNAP invites members and guest to Hair, an exhibition of recent work from Mark Clintberg. In this new body of work Clintberg sources imagery found in Barbershops throughout Canada and the United States. The images selected hail from photographs used in salons to encourage client’s choice and portray hairstyle trends of each region. At times these posters last far beyond their trend and visually age while on display. Keeping this in mind, Clintberg prints selected images onto Newsprint to encourage the image’s disintegration and enforce the ephemeral quality of this series of work, the posters commonly found in barber shops and the trends that they influence. Considering the effects the sun, air and other external conditions can have on the colour and visibility of the print; the artwork in Hair will forever be changing into the state the artist intends.

Opening Reception: September 12, 7-9 pm.

SNAP is happy to provide this programming at no cost to participants.

We hope you will consider making a donation to keep programs accessible in the future.
