Ass U Me is a series of new work from local artist Ben Weinlick. In this exciting exhibition the artist pokes fun at our inner aversion to letting go, letting outdated old ideas die and our reluctance to embrace change and new growth. The eight prints in Ass U Me are sometimes a nudge, a shock or a jarring collision with absurdity that seeks to provoke a laugh and a reminder to not take our ideas, assumptions and especially ourselves too seriously.

In the mid-late ‘90s Ben Weinlinck was part of the visual art and experimental music scene in Edmonton. After a number of solo and group shows he jumped ship from the art world in the early 2000s to explore creative endeavours in the social sector. Never completely leaving art behind, in the last few years and with inspiration from SNAP, he has come back to art and printmaking. He explores the absurd, makes links between disparate ideas and objects and pokes fun at stiff preconceived ideas and assumptions that society carries around as we navigate the world.

Opening Reception: April 10, 7-9 pm.
