SNAP gallery presents a new series of prints from Saskatchewan based artist Robert Truszkowski titled Amplitudes. This new series of work from Truszkowski is homage to this point in human evolution and the role the printing press had on humankind’s enlightenment. The invention of the press created a domino effect of events, which gave the ability to communicate ideas and the rise of authority. Amplitudes is a fine balance of the artist referencing the social history of information, power and authority, with a focus on the social, commercial and technical history of print. The work intends to engage the viewer with feelings of humour, sadness, suspicion, sarcasm, anger, ambivalence, nostalgia and optimism.

Currently Robert Truszkowski is an Associate Print Professor in the Department of Visual Arts at the University of Regina. He has exhibited extensively throughout Canada and taken part in several international group exhibitions including shows in Nicaragua, Germany, the United States and was a part of the Canadian Art Pavilion in Chongqing, China.

Opening Reception: March 13, 7–9 pm.
