Join us for an artist talk on Tuesday, July 5 at 6pm MDT with current exhibiting artist Morgan Melenka in conjunction with her exhibition Nonsuch. Please register below to receive a meeting link.

Nonsuch employs commercially printed materials – mesh banners and Formica (the countertop surfacing material) – to discuss the logic of Edmonton’s built environment, history and imagined histories. Both materials are used to offer the image of a street in the Griesbach neighborhood redeveloping from recent ruins of a military base into a newly fabricated historical setting.

About the artist:
Morgan Melenka is a visual artist based in Mohkinstsis (Calgary). She engages with sculpture and printmaking as she misuses architectural forms and materials to engage with history and place. She holds an MFA from NSCAD University and her 2021 exhibitions include: the Scene at the Art Gallery of Alberta, The Works Art & Design festival, moveObjects On at the Plumb in Toronto, and SAAG Art Library Project. She has taught visual art sessionally at NSCAD University, University of Alberta and MacEwan University. She was SNAP’s Seminar Series Coordinator 2020-2022 and between other contracts paints sets for film.
