SNAP is pleased to host a public lecture by four artists visiting Edmonton from the Strzemiński Academy of Fine Arts in Łódź, Poland.

Jolanta Rudzka Habisiak (Professor, Rector of the Academy) will present on the Academy of Fine Arts in Łódź, its artistic tradition, structure and perspectives. She will also show examples of her artistic work. She specializes in fibre art and runs the Studio of Innovative Objects for Interior, Carpets and Tapestry.

Alicja Habisiak-Matczak (Head of Intaglio Techniques Studio) is a printmaker specializing in intaglio techniques. Since 2013 she has been the initiator and coordinator of International Summer Courses Printmaking and Textile Art (PATA) organized at the Academy in cooperation with International Art Centre KAUS Urbino. She will focus on PATA, the printmaking traditions of Łódź, and her own artwork.

Tomasz Matczak (Associate Professor, Lithography) will present his research on the application of iron plates in lithography – the technique called ferrography and other experimental planographic methods developed at the Łódź Academy.

Oskar Gorzkiewicz (Assistant Professor, Intaglio) is currently working on his PhD thesis focused on intaglio techniques. He will present examples of his work and some aspects of his research.
