SNAPline invites you to submit a story of 500 or fewer words to our 2021 Flash Fiction Contest, with the winner and runner-up to be published this summer in our 2021.2 issue. The 2021.2 theme is “Public / Private” and we are seeking encapsulated narratives that reflect on what is revealed and what is hidden in the world around us. Your entry must take the embroidered crest patch Pill Deer with Finger Legs by Cindy Baker (pictured) as a starting point.

Deadline: June 1, 2021 at midnight

Submit your finished works to [email protected] with the subject “SNAPline Flash Fiction Contest”

There is no entry fee.

Image description of featured work Pill Deer with Finger Legs: A square shaped felt embroidered patch, on a bright yellow-orange felt material. The patch depicts in black thread linework a cylindrical pill with four fingers extending from the bottom like animal limbs. The four-legged pill is rearing up on its hind legs, facing left. There is a square border with rounded corners along the edge of the patch.
