Learn to silkscreen your illustrations, words or patterns using vivid colours of ink onto any piece of fabric. During this 6-week class, Artist Bernie Paetz will teach participants how to create one-of-a-kind hand printed fabrics using the silkscreen process. You will develop a basic understanding of the techniques and execution of silkscreen printing onto fabrics with water based inks. You will learn how to create stencils, expose screens and print multiple colour layers onto fabric as well as learn how to print side repeat pattern. This course will prepare you with the skills necessary to create your own prints and to independently use the silkscreen facilities at SNAP. Participants will be supplied with a selection of fabric for testing but are encouraged to bring other light-coloured low textured fabrics of their choosing.
6 classes (Thursdays)
