Come dip your hands into the basics of indigo vat dyeing during this one day intensive workshop with artist Erica Vaskevicius. Using the traditional Japanese resist method of Itajime with a modern twist, participants will create bold geometric patterns on fabric using laser cut and 3D printed blocks as well as binding and wrapping techniques. End the day with a beautiful selection of samples, a one-of-a-kind bandana, a starter indigo vat, and the confidence to continue experimenting with indigo on future projects at home. No experience is necessary.
*Participants may bring one single item to dye (cotton, linen, rayon). Please avoid bulky garments as vat space and time will be limited. Fabrics that lay flat are best, such as: pillow cases, tea towels, t-shirts, tote bags.
Maximum 12 participants
