Explore printmaking at home using a variety of exciting monotype techniques. During this four-week online class you will create a series of monotype prints using direct inking techniques with a variety of tools while in the comfort of your own home. Artist Deltra Powney will give detailed and thorough demonstrations each class online but live from SNAP Printshop and will instruct you how to use techniques such as trace monotype, brush and roller work, masks and stencils, offset printing, ghost prints, and chine collé. Each week everyone will use various exploration methods such as gathering and collecting objects, generating idea boards, and creating sketchbook studies to aid with colour palette choices, ink-mixing, and image-making.
A focus will be placed on how to print at home using hand printing techniques, but will also cover how to set up and print using SNAP’s presses. Participants will create and print a series of exploratory monotypes at home during designated live class printing time via Zoom and will also receive two SNAP Open Studio printing vouchers to use for booking printshop access when it suits their schedule. This online formatted class is perfect for those who want to print but have a busy lifestyle!
