Explore printmaking at home using a variety of monotype techniques. During this four-week online class you will create a series of monotype prints using direct inking techniques with a variety of tools while working from home. Artist Deltra Powney will give detailed and thorough demonstrations each week online and will instruct you how to use techniques such as trace monotype, brush and roller work, masking and stencils, offset printing, ghost prints, and chine collé. Each week various methods such as gathering and collecting objects, generating idea boards, and creating sketchbook studies to aid with colour palette choices, ink-mixing, and image-making will be explored.

A focus will be placed on hand printing techniques to aid in printing at home, but will also cover how to set up and print using SNAP’s presses. Participants will create and print a series of exploratory monotypes during designated live online class time and will also receive two SNAP printing vouchers to use for booking printshop access when it suits their schedule. This online class is perfect for those who want to learn a new printing skill set or want to continue printing at home.
