In-person workshop held at SNAP
NOTE: This course has been moved to February 19-20.
Complete a multi-layer linocut print in one weekend using the brilliant efficiency of letterpress. Join Artist Brianna Tosswill from Penrose Press in this workshop to expand your understanding and experience in relief printmaking. Over the course of two days you will receive general instruction and personalized advice about lino carving and linocut reduction. You will experience the satisfaction of printing on the Vandercook letterpress and have assistance with set up and troubleshooting while you focus on printing. Choose to print an edition of cards or prints based on your preference. As a small group we will develop a colour strategy that works across multiple images and at the end of the workshop enjoy a group print exchange with the other participants.
*No experience is necessary, this workshop is recommended for beginner and intermediate artists. All ability levels are encouraged to register.
About the artist
Brianna Tosswill is an artist who expresses herself and others in print and book format. She explores the limits and unique opportunities of letterpress and linocut printmaking in her work and is preoccupied with comfort and potential. She obtained her BFA in Printmaking from OCAD University in 2017, and spent two years as an active member at Open Studio in Toronto. She is currently working out of SNAP Printshop in Edmonton, Alberta.
SNAP is participating in the Alberta ‘Restriction Exemption Program‘ for all in-person programs in the SNAP printshop. Anyone accessing the printshop is required to show proof of vaccination against Covid-19, and this includes course instructors, students, resident artists, and SNAP staff. If this prevents your in-person participation in our programs, we will work with you to develop an online learning option.
