In this 6-week introductory intaglio course learn a variety of copper etching techniques. You will learn how to prepare the copper plate with a variety of ground applications such as hard ground line etching and textural/tonal aquatint etching. Explore image transfer techniques and work from your own drawings or collages as you become skilled in etching and layering images onto a copper plate using various tools and materials. Learn safe studio procedures, proper ink application, registration and chine-collé methods and print and curate your final images on various cotton rag and washi papers through the etching press.

Individuals who have registered for a class or workshop at SNAP but are unable to attend need to inform SNAP 14 days in advance to receive a full refund. Registrants who cancel with 5 days notice will receive 50% of their registration fee. Once the course has begun SNAP is unable to issue a refund or offer makeup classes for any days missed. Courses are subject to a minimum enrolment in order to run. If SNAP cancels a course due to low enrolment, notice will be given at least 5 days in advance and a full refund will be issued.
