Are you looking for a way to create subtle tonal drawings, washes, or expressive marks through print? Used widely as a convenient alternative to traditional stone lithography, lithographic plates have a prepared surface that mimics the surface of the stone, allowing you to achieve a broad spectrum of drawing effects. In this 6-week class, you will focus on black and white tonal drawing and mark-making using a variety of drawing materials. Informative demonstrations and hands-on instruction will focus on plate-lithography preparation and will allow you to work through the process of printing images on the Etching presses. Upon completion of the course, students will be capable of preparing and processing ball-grained litho plates, as well as printing independently.
