During this class with Visiting Artist in Residence, Shivangi Ladha, experiment with etching and chine-collé techniques by using several non-traditional printing and gluing methods. Learn how to print onto thin, translucent Japanese paper and rag paper with multiple plates, repeats, ghosts, bleeds, folding, and stacking. Use chine-collé methods to create unique, layered pieces and even integrate old prints, drawings, or watercolours into your work. Discussions and demonstrations will include image composition, paper tearing, plate preparation, ink wiping methods, as well as you will learn etching and printing skills. This class is appropriate for beginners and trained printmakers alike.
