Nikki Stoyko Connections and Exchange AiR 2025 I am a self-taught artist, high school teacher, and nature lover, and one of the co-creators of Sketch Around YEG Club, an incredible community of local artists who meet monthly to sketch and connect. As a print-adjacent artist, I’m thrilled to dive into all things PRINT here at SNAP! (Endlessly grateful for this opportunity to learn and connect with incredible print artists from YEG and beyond)! Lately, I’ve been building my screen printing skills, experimenting with reduction printing in lino, learning how to create patterns in print and exploring how to transform digital sketches into tangible stencils and templates. My work often weaves together threads of nature and nostalgia, with the environment and my own experiences guiding the subject matter. My time at SNAP has been a creative adventure and I am soaking up everything I can, falling completely in love with print media, and already know I’ll be a member for life. I can’t wait to keep coming back to the studio to explore, experiment, and create as much as possible! Thank you to everyone in the SNAP community for being so generous with your time, your creativity, your knowledge and especially for your encouragement, what a village! The Connections and Exchange “ In Community: Expand Edition” provides a platform for connectivity, collaboration, and expansion within diverse artistic communities. The Artists’ participation leads to representation of artistic excellence in spaces of need: Indigenous traditions, motherhood, queer communities, creative accessibility, and self-taught artistry. This residency intends to encourage exploration and expansion of their practice, mediums, ideas, and connections. We would like to thank the EAC @yegarts for their support on this project!!
