Kaitlyn Konkin is driven by her fascination with the collection of objects and images. Born in Edmonton, Alberta, on Treaty 6 lands, she studied printmaking and painting at the University of Alberta, graduating in 2024.

Her work delves into the history of botanical photographic documentation, exploring themes of objective representation, the manipulation of subjects, and their detachment from broader environments. Interested in how these images create both distance and intimacy, she reflects on botanical catalogues to evoke the unease and tenderness that a close, focused gaze brings. The scenes she creates are both constructed and distorted by these modes of depiction. Through layered processes, her work bridges the internal and external, using representation not to clarify or explain, but to evoke feeling and experience.
